To
make Video Karaoke with our software, you need:
- A PC running
a nonlinear editing software,
such as Adobe Premier.
- A separate stand-alone
PC to run the VNI Karaoke Software. (Note: Because
VNI Karaoke Maker is a DOS program, this PC must run Windows 3.1,
95, 98, or Me in order for the software to work properly. VNI
Karoake will not work under Windows NT, 2000, or XP.)
- In this system, you must have a
VGA to video signal converter board (NTSC,
PAL, or SEACAM). Since different locations use different
output signal, you must specify the type of output signal on your
VGA board, whether NTSC, PAL, or SEACAM before purchasing it.
(Note: We highly recommend that you purchase the Magni VGA Producer
16 (VGAP 16) board. The cost of this board is less than $1200
US. If you have a hard time buying it, please contact VNI and
we will help you purchase the board at a cheaper price.) http://www.magnisystems.com/products/index.htm
- A VNI Karaoke
Software, Version 3.2. This is customized software
and it's price is 2000 US dollars. Please contact VNI at +1 (714)
891-7656 or email VNI at vni@vnisoft.com for further information.
How does it
work?
- To type the song lyrics, you use
the window-based VNI Song
Editor.
- To style and edit the font, you
run the program Karaoke Maker.

- Load the lyrics to the screen, then
press the Record button to start the record mode.
- Listen to the song and hit the "space
bar" key as the singer sings each word in a song. When doing
so, the program calculates the interval of time between each pressing
of the space bar.
- After recording the song, select
the playback mode to view all the highlight you just record. During
the playback mode, the hightlight passes through the lyrics simultaneous
to the progression of the song at the exact time interval.
- Save it in the file format for later
use. You may continue to record more song. Usually, one song will
take less than 10 minutes to record.
How to Overlay
(Keying over the Video)
- After you completed recording, output
the lyric file through the VGA board, which will convert from
a VGA signal to a Video signal (NTSC, PAL, or SEACAM).
- Input its signal to your editing
system (PC running Abobe Premier). In Adobe Premier, Input the
lyrics into the Alpha Channel. You must treat Karaoke System as
another Video Source (similar to that of a VCR source).
- Now you may "Overlay"
(Sometimes, called "Keying") with your Video Master
and this signal is ready for the AVI format or jpeg by Adobe Premier.
How to Input
to the Lyric signal to your Editing System using your camera
If you do not have a Video input (Composite
or S-VHF) in your editing system (PC running Adobe Premier), and
your editing system uses a "Firewire" input, you must
first connect from the NTSC output of your stand alone system (PC
running VNI Karaoke) to the Video Input of your camera. Then from
your camera, you must output the signal through the "Firewire"
of the camera.
